Advice from my dealer...unless you've done engine work, just use the good old fashioned standard HD plugs. They could have easily tried to up sell me the Screamin' Chicken plugs.

I will admit that I upgraded mine to the Scorched Chicken plugs and wires. I have a built S&S at 120" although with a mild compression and cam. Went with the normal compression plugs since there are two different versions. Wonder at times if I should have, but thought what the hell, why put $2 plugs in an engine with that much money in it (still wondering though)

what are the trade offs between the screaming chicken plugs and the scorched chicken plugs? one gets done faster? and the other lets you know when it's done?

When I bought my bike used at just under 20K miles, it had HD-6R12 plugs in it. When I performed my 20K service, I changed to NGK-DCPR7E plugs. I have about 17K miles on these plugs right now and I've calculated mileage at every fill-up since I purchased the bike covering all 12 months. There is no practical measurable fuel consumption or performance difference between the HD-6R12 or the NGK-DCPR7E plugs. When I hit 40K miles I'll install my next set which are Champion-RA8HC's. I don't expect to see any change with them either. I do know that in the winter I'll routinely get between 37 - 41 MPG. In the summer I'll get between 42 - 45 MPG (which are epa numbers for a '07 FLHTC). The main reason for the MPG drop in the winter is not due to the popular notion about winter blend vs. summer blend fuel, but because an air cooled engine designed to handle 90-100 degree temps in the summer must run much richer in 20 degree temps.

Now, if I could just figure out which magic oil to use ............
