I have personally seen this more than once.
A fuel injected bike needs quite a bit of fuel pressure to start.
That fuel disconnect valve on the bottom of the tank is just like an air fitting on an air compressor.
Sometime the o-ring gets messed up and won't allow fuel to flow through it.
Pulling it off and reconnecting it sometimes helps.
It pulls off just like taking an air compressor fitting off.

Good luck.
This is also very possible. If the line cracks inside the tank, you won't have any fuel pressure. No fuel pressure = No starting

and radio frequency interference can be a factor...PUSH the bike 50 feet and try again
But the bike would not crank if that was the case.
He reported that it turns over, but just won't start.

Exactly

I don't know if you're still stranded, but this actually happened to me. I rolled up into an uphill parking spot, so instead of using the main switch (in front of the tank) I used the kill switch (which I never, ever use). When I got ready to leave, the bike wouldn't start, then it did, but it ran terribly. The give away was "no engine light" on the gauge. Apparently, due to infrequent use of the off/run switch, the contacts were bad. I cycled the switch a dozen times to clean up the contacts, and it's been fine since. I still don't use that switch though...

Well you've gotten a lot of advice since your last reply. Are you still stuck? If so how mechanically inclined are you and do you have any tools? Specifically you will need whatever it takes to get your seat off, a 5/32" allen wrench, a 3/8" wrench or socket, a hammer and a blunt end punch.
This is what it takes to get into your gas tank.

Out of all the suggestions I am leaning towards the fuel line quick disconnect fitting being the culprit. You have spark and the fuel pump pressures up so that should eliminate any electrical issues and any "inside the tank pressure issues" from anything being cracked causing low or no fuel pressure. Have you tried starting fluid? If the bike responds than you have a fuel delivery related issue. If not then you have a electrical related issue and you can narrow down and focus your efforts in the correct direction.

No crappier feeling than being broke down on the road away from home. With everyone's summer trips gearing up, it's reassuring to know you guys are there with good ideas if **** happens. Good luck bro, hopefully we'll see a happy ending her soon.

I have not read the whole thread but my 07 street glide did a similar thing in michigan without the backfire. My issue was the 90 degree fuel fitting on the bottom of the tank. That fitting is a check valve, a wrench figured it out in the U P. just push it up toward the tank until you feel it detent. Then give her a shot. Good luck

I would surmise by the OP ' lack of response that he has given up on trying to fix his problem via the interweb & has returned to the tried & true method of sussing it out on his own...

Not to steal thread, but my GS had the same problem on way to work yesterday.
Went to pull away from light and the 01, KR with 70K plus just died. Got it home
turns over strong, so no fuel or spark, pulled the Power Commander, checked
spark all good. Pump cycle on and off, sparyed a little carb cleaner in intake,
it lives. Yrs ago had the crank sensor chit the nest. Bring a scope home tomorrow
and see it we have injector pulse......and go from there. .....Tenn.Vol.
