If you're doing the work yourself. Maybe if possible take a lot of pics with a kinda of a walk through for future people in the same position. Share with the class!
Got price for the belt of HD, very expensive, was looking on fleabay,Drag Specialities belts listed at half the price,is it worth the gamble or better go HD? Any recommended better belts?
John, you can check part numbers on line using any of the parts finder websites, such as this one.
As for belts there are very few actual manufacturers, the difficulty is sifting through the brands to find a decent belt - not all are the same quality! You may be able to make a decent saving on a stock belt with Jersey H-D, so try them.
As of 2007 the factory belt was made with Kevlar. You may be finding aftermarket belts that do not have Kevlar in them. They are supposed to go 100,000 miles.
thanks guys, looks like Jersey HD will be getting my moneey, thanks grbrown, one thing they asked in the dealerships was about the condition of the back pulley, they said if the chrome was damaged on the teeth it would eat up the new belt, well the chrome plate is well broken off on mine but it makes me wonder if it needs a new pulley at 22miles?or was it the typical dealers lookin for more cash?

Local HD parts guy thinks Drag Specialties makes a lot of the HD parts for them and just re-brands them. I've used the drag parts and have had zero problems with them.
