Hi all,
I finally crossed over to the Touring side. Picked up an 01 EG on Saturday morning and after close to 600 miles in 4 days realized it needs a bit more power. I have the same year wide glide with a big bore kit and cam. I told my girl I would leave the EG alone...well I guess I was wrong. I am already rebuilding a 99 softail and it's only about 60% complete but gives me something to do. I did tell my girl I was not going to do anything until season I'd over but not sure I can wait that long. Looking for ideas of what I can do on the under 1g note to provide me with a little more get up and go. So any help is appreciated. I will try to load pics as I know someone may ask.
I am thinking cam and exhaust but not sure I could do that for my budget. Oh and I love the wide glide but love the EG more so far. The EG is all stock with just under 20k now
Ah carbed, so needs tuned. My suggestion would probably go over 1k then because you need to get it on a dyno unless you find a kit that includes proper jetting.
Congrats on the addition. I would definitely start out with cam, exhaust depending on what you have now, and or big bore kit which would include cam. I think Hillside Customs upstate NY has a kit right around a grand.
IDK about you, but I'm a big guy and when I asked my mechanic how I could get more power for a cheap price, he said "go on a diet!". My OL is a tiny little 118lbs & my daughter is a big girl, and I can definitely notice the difference in power & performance between the two. So, I'm more than pretty sure that my mechanic is right. Just a thought...
Why can't I just be happy with how it is...this is a sickness!....lol. Yeah I know I will need to get it tuned unless I can fine a complete kit. I am around the 200 lb mark and my girl is 110 soaking wet. Just comparing it to my Wide Glide and it is like a night and day difference and I know it always will be, but I would like to twist the throttle now and again have some power.
