So yesterday I finished installing the decatted stock header and the SE Street Cannons. I'd read about these getting loud after the cat was removed but it just didn't seem like they would since they were so quiet with the cat installed - barely louder than stock if at all. Well, they ARE louder, not stupid **** off the hood loud but louder than I was looking for. I'd say similar to the Samson Powerflow 2 into 1 I had on my Dyna........which was fine as it was balanced by wind noise. Riding behind the BW fairing the street cannons are now more than I was after. Thought about changing the baffles but the end can's attach to the installed baffle. So can someone suggest something that would bring me back to just a touch louder than stock? What about the stock slip-ons..............do they flow any good or not? Here's some sound clips.
I kept my stock mufflers for this very reason...wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be too loud with a non-cat head pipe. Turns out that it doesn't sound too bad and is fine for touring.

I agree, decatted my RKC with the stock mufflers, sounds pretty good. I would like a little more rumble but it's OK. I think the fairing bikes notice it more than the windshield bikes. That's my professional observation anyway.
Call Thunder City Baffles and talk to them. I have a 13 Electra and I put on V&H Power Duels headpipe with Monster Oval slips ones and it would give me a headache on a long ride. I called V&H and they recommended Thunder City. I was skeptical but I bought a set (only about $150 bucks if I recall), and had the dealership install them. Viola, problem solved. The tech felt it reduced the noise about 20% but more importantly, it made the sound deeper and better, kind of took the sharp edges off.
I just installed Jackpots 4" with quiet baffles....they aren't quiet. The droning after a while is making me tired...I am gonna fix them somehow, maybe with a lollipop welded washer on the end....

Since you have Samsons on your other bike, I have Samson 4" Silver Bullets with the Decibel Killer baffles and they are around 84db. These are a lot quiter than the standard baffle which is 96db. I have a True duals with cams so the standards are loud but the Decibel Killers are a little more than stock. I may be letting these go, a little too quiet for me.

So if you listened to the video I posted, would you say the Samson DB killer baffles will put me close to either the stock pipes without the cat or the street cannons WITH the cat? I liked them a lot before the cat came out - nice sound at idle or cruise and not too loud.

You answered your own question. Put the stock header pipe back on and go with the Street Cannons.
Budget choice: reinstall the stock mufflers.
Some riders are completely happy with this approach after removing the cat or header swap.
more control: a supertrapp 4" disk system muffler allows the owner to set up about as loud or quiet as they want- in minutes.
the screaming eagle fatshots are made by supertrapp, I use a set of these on my no cat 09.
I also have bikes with the supertrapp supermeg.
these mufflers are very similar in construction.
I can control sound/ flow and move the power up or down in rpm range. I can emphasize HP or TQ.
just by changing the number of disks and/ or the end caps
as a sound engineer; i wouldn;t give any time to clips on the web- too many variables. the type of equipment used, placement of the microphone(s), envirnonment ( dead/reflective..at which frequenices...) the compression parameters, the web bandwidth, the decompression, the tiny computer speakers. none of these pieces of parts is useful for a reference

Fullsac can take your stock mufflers and install one of their baffles depending on your choice. I exchanged out my stock header for their Sport Pipe and had them install the 1.75" baffle in my stock mufflers. The 1.75" is the quietest baffle but still provides good rumble and performance. Price is very good also. Check them out..
