swapping battery - any rules ?

Hi All,
i am about to swap the battery on my 2012 glide.(weak)
i am in the UK and it has a factory HD alarm system attached (from new).
Is there anytihng i need to do before i un-hook the battery cables and swap it out ?

Pull the main fuse under the left side cover to avoid any voltage spikes

disconnect earth first.
then the +

on install connect the + first, then the -

that way if your wrench contacts the frame...there will be no sparks.

the pull strap which runs under the battery is likely about rubbed through, so don't rely on it to hold the battery ( meaning don;t drop the battery on your tank or toe).

I replaced mine with a heavier strap ( gtr strap- I have plenty).

clean dirt and dust from the battery hole, look for any wiring with may have been in contact with the battery

check the battery cables are tight and clean at the other end

a little dielectric grease on the connections

With the key in the on position pull the main fuse. Otherwise the security will activate. And if you you have the optional siren it will be very loud if you are in a closed garage.
