Default 2010 Electra Issue

Hi all,

New here. I have a 2010 Electra Glide and I went to start it Friday and it started to crank over. I heard a pop sound so I released the start button. When I pressed the start button again I got absolutely nothing from the starter. I do have full electric and amp on battery is great.

Could this be the Start Relay Fuse inside the fuse box?

Thank you or your time.

Fuse #8 is for the ignition- 15 amp. if no go:

Start relay is #6, you may swap that with the brake relay #15 for testing purposes.
( but if you do, your brakes lights may not work properly...so use the "good" relay to get started, then put it back in the correct position...replacements at any auto parts store $12

IF you have an alarm- it may be confused by other sources of Radio Frequency- mobil speed pass, toll stations and the proximity of other Harleys for example...push the bike 50 feet and try it.- these RF sources may stop the bike from starting, but will not AFAIK stop a running bike
( I have also had my alarm start chirping at 75 MPH while riding alongside another bike....)

if you need deeper trouble shooting:
you can bypass the starter relay and the handlebar switches ( and associated wiring)[the starter "primary circuit"] by using a jumper wire from the starter solenoid ( green wire, just pull it off the terminal) use a jumper with with a terminal crimped on- attach it where the green wire was attached.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN NEUTRAL !

then touch the other end of the jumper wire to the battery +...( or to the + side of a battery tender plug, saves pulling the seat).

if the battery is good, the cables are tight, the starter is good and the solenoid is good: the starter will run.

if it runs, you know that you have a problem in the starter "primary circuit".
If it doesn';t run, then you know the problem is it the starter "secondary circuit"

Thanks mkguitar.

Will check start relay fuse first and then go from there. Hopefully it is something as simple as that.

re-read my post, I did some editing.

you have a fuse on the ignition #8.

the starter relay is not a fuse...but it is in the 'fuse box'.

the lower positions in your fuse box should have spares.

if you use these go to autozone and get more spares- if you feel like spending more, they make fuses that light up when they are blown- these are super handy for those who are frightened by electrical.

BTW welcome to the forums- hang out when you don;t need help.

Thanks Mike for your help. Will check into all this here shortly.

Like the sounds of light up fuses lol but not afraid of electrical either.

THanks for the welcome. I was on here last year as I had a 97 R/K which got totaled last August when I was hit from behind and forgot what my username/password was and haven't used the email address either in over a year.

Again thank you for the info and Welcome and will certainly be around other then needing help lol. Lots of great info on here.
