Out for a ride today with my wife on board. I have the HD springs and have left them at the lowest preload they will go to when it's just me (200 lbs). I sure don't feel any sag when I sit down, but then I haven't had anyone to help me measure it yet. I can tell you the rear is stiff but handle bumps much better then the stock air shocks did no matter how much air I used in them.
Today I turned them up to the first groove mark. I haven't told my wife anything about them yet. I want to get her input without her knowing anything. And I can report I didn't hear nearly as many ouch! as I did when the old air shocks. Two up we are about 200 lbs. I'll try the second groove mark next time and see how that feels.
Side note, most of the time travel pretty light, not much weight in the bags at all really.
Please share your weights and settings with me. Thanks
How often are your riding two up compared to solo riding in % of time?
i put the progressive monotubes on with the 944 heavy duty rear. weigh ever bit of 250 and saddle bags and tour pack are always jammed full on my 2012 EGC. installed by the harley dealer who even spoke with frank(i think) at progressive to make sure about amount of fluids in front forks and setting sag on the rear(lowest setting). they were very rough when i picked the bike up...went of a 6,300 mile trip. they beat the hell out of me the entire way and never got any better or broken in. one of the worst products i have ever used. reminds me of the ride of my 1975 goldwing.
your advertising says that lowering the suspension will not cause a rough ride and you still have the same travel due to the fancy technology. too bad your product does not come with a money back guarantee or you had a representative that could take a look at the product. frank said the nearest one was over 2k miles away in new york. not only am i out a good bit of money for the shocks, the dealer charge for install was over $300.
First test ride complete. I'm 200 lbs. One clip in the monotubes, rear 944 standard spring no preload. A very nice smooth ride, small holes don't really notice, larger ones are handled so much better then stock. I'm happy.
I sure hope I didn't make a mistake by buying the heavy duty 944 for my 08 ultra I just got them last week they sure looked good but it also turns out that they have to be installed upside down when you have a detachable tour pack that makes an adjustment more of a pain I am sure any experiences with this situation
I am having the same issue with my 944 hd spring. extremely disappointed. painful to ride single or two up. progressive says I need the standard springs installed. wife and I about 375--literature says 250lbs is hd spring. WTF?
