I also use back to black. Works well. Wife wants the bike painted this winter, so I'll be getting the inner fairing painted as well. Looking forward to that
Everyone paints inner fairings , I did think of it , but wanted to be different ! So I added windshield pouch chrome on Gage's and radio and switch panel ! Did some old school pinstripiing on center above tach and speedo , also out on ends behind mirrors ! Just wanted different ! Hey and as far as a shine , I use Pledge ! Gives it a long lasting shine ! It doesn't soak in like Armorall !
Let me see if I got this right. You wanted to be different so you put windshield bags and chrome trim on a stock inner fairing.
I've used 303 for years for everything from the inner fairing to rubber fender trim on a Jeep Wrangler. It's doesn't leave behind a fake glossy shine, just a healthy sheen. A couple chrome trim pieces may give it that little pop you're looking for as well.
I like mine the OEM satin black. I did not want to paint the inner because I like the contrast and don't like the shine back from painted inners on bright days. For contrast, I purchased the HD Leather dash pad and had it recovered in silver to match my paint.
If the only reason that you do not want to paint the inner fairing is because everyone does, Then do a two tone paint or art work on the inner to individualize it. And if glare is an issue get some polarized shades. Just an option to consider and an opinion on my part.
Roll with it. Add things like saddlebag covers to flow the flat black back. Add a little chrome accent to flow that outwards towards your grips and go with a chrome black grip. I wouldn't go overboard on the chrome accent, that takes away from the flow back. If you really want to go for it, you can do some flat black accent on the painted surfaces. Flat black even on shiny, especially shiny black, looks good and something as simple as pin stripes or a single graphic can flow the color into the overall bike scheme.
Really radical would be add flat black slip ons with chrome tips or change the gauges to digital color, but man that's bucks.
