OK I just got the LED light. I measured low beam . 3 Amps and High beam 0.5 amps. That is pretty low power. Next is the lense test at home. Keeping my fingers crossed. I will let you guys know soon
Very anxious to hear as well - going nuts over which light/spots to buy and can't justify the several hundred $$$ for the HD units. It will either be the Truck Lites or some less expensive version/bulb, etc. Thanks for the updates
OK I got the LED bulbs and tried them. Crap, crap, Chinese crap. I guess it is true , you get what you pay for. The problem was not that the optics did not match the LED light pattern ( I expected that would be the main issue ). The problem is that it is not powerful enough. Itc only draws 300 mA in low beam and 500 mA in high. But they advertise it as an 80 W equivalent bulb. Well I had fun trying something new and it did not brake my bank account.Sorry guys.
Can I buy an incandescent bulb that is motorcycle rated and more powerful than the stock bulb?

Thank you for up-dating.
On my last King I put a Silver Star H4 in and it did help a little. I think my 14 has 2 blubs haven't looked in to it yet.
I'm tired of the headlight discussion. This LED looks like it's single beam (not high and low) but it may be ok for you. I continue to purchase the cheap H4 bulbs 55W/60 in 5000 brightness from a vendor on EBay at $5 or less per bulb. It lasts about a year and I run about 20K miles a year or more to give an idea of hour usage. When it burns out, I'll have the opportunity to pull things apart and clean. I hope this works out for you though.
Just our of curiosity, do you have a link for this?

I had a similar experiment as you with an LED 1157 bulb. Like you it was cheap enough try and I like trying simple experiments like this. Like your experiment, mine was a failure. It was dimmer than an incandescent 1157.
I have had the TruckLight LED bulb on my Road King and I installed a 7" Fat Boy Headlight on my Springer because it missed it so much. At $180 or so they are a lot cheaper than the HD solution.
If you want more light for cruising highway 27 at night this is the ticket. Only downside is they are very directional, so side view in the daylight is lacking, cars don't see your headlight. I keep the factory halogen passing lights for this purpose to maintain daytime visibility.
First of all, I'd like to thank SRV_Fan for his good price and quick shipping on the 7' light and bracket. He is a great vendor indeed.
I had a 7" LED Trucklite on my Road King and the LED is night and day better than halogen or sealed beam. SRV hooked me up with a 7" "Big Friggin Headlight" and bracket. It was a very complete kit, nothing else needed, and a quality kit. The bracket is a very nice piece and SRV thoughtfully includes all bolts and washers needed.
The install is super easy; I soldered the factory wires to the socket that SRV included in the kit, the wires are color coded and it's very easy to install.
Now to the important stuff - the results:
Here is the factory light:
Here is the new Big Friggin LED Headlight. Tomorrow I will purchase the Harley Frenched headlight ring as the LED sticks out farther than the stock headlight ring. Common mod for all Trucklite installations.
Here is the factory bulb low beam:

These pictures don't do the difference justice; it is like night and day. The LED is so much better than stock that it is really unbelievable. Took a ride tonight through the everglades and it was fantastic. I learned on my Road King that I can run the high beam on a 4 lane without blinding oncoming traffic, and it lights up the night like you cannot believe and is so directional that other drivers don't flash the brights.
The downside of the directional beam of the LED is that it's hard to see from a side angle. For safety reasons, in the daytime, I always run my passing lights which are very visible from the side...and I don't install LED passing lights as they are also very directional.
It's my 2nd favorite mod (straight pipes are #1 favorite). I highly recommend the mod for those like me that like to drive at night.
