But his '05 compensator is the good one, so there should be no worries. The clutch pak loves the Dexron but our junk compensators in the newer bikes need heavier oils and they still crap out....I ran Dexron in my '09 for a short period of time and my clutch was great but I went back to Formula + after doing a lot of reading on this forum...

Why not save yourself a trip and do the service yourself (or find a good indy)? Keep a maintenance log & receipts and don't listen to any dealership BS about them voiding your warranty

I have considered that. But being a complete newbie to what needs to be maintained and check, they can do the 1k.

After that, it will be like my cars. DIY.

What about the people that build chains, springs, and other metal parts in the primary?

I ran ATF, and so did some friends, when a couple of them started having problems, specifically compensator, and an old school indy friend of ours said, and I quote "Yup, that **** is good for the clutches, but nothing else in the primary. Get that **** out of there..."

That's when I went to Drag Specialties Primary Fluid, used to buy it at a little shop in Kingsport, TN.

When I moved to Texas 2 years ago, I switched to F+, because it's easier to find, and found it to be as good as DS.

Now, for the first time, I've got Red Line Primary in there, and so far really liking it!
