if you want something different, get a lighter frame- I have an FXR- a dyna or sporty will give lotso fun with a good power to weight ratio and great handling/stopping.
or think about a ducati- fairly cheap, very awesome
lessons learned on the sport bike will translate to the bagger.
the 08 RK has the 6, TBW and brembos if that's what you really want.
The 08 touring bikes are somewhat unique to that one year. Its like Harley was not really ready for the major 09 changes so they did it half way. The 08 frame is a one year frame. 08 was the first year for throttle by wire and had some issues. The 07 and 08 models had some crank issues as well. The 6 speed was also improved moving from 08 to 09.
If I was buying a used Road King I would look for a 09 or newer. Not putting down the 08, just things to know.
Just like what mkguitar said...
Since you have a Street Glide, why not buy a Dyna? Really cool bikes, versatile, and you can customize the crap out of it.
Getting rid of my 09 SG was the best thing I ever did. I hated it from the day I picked it up. I should have rode one before I bought one. Got my RK and love it. Best bike I have ever owned. I got a removable fairing so if I want the radio I pop it on.

I have always been amazed at the number of people who ran out and bought a SG without thinking about how it was going to be used. And then they spend so much $$$$ changing them to make them useful.
