I have a 2000 Road King EFI and am looking for a set of slip-ons that would give me a deeper tone. I am not necessarily wanting to get "louder", though. However, I do understand that it may be a necessary trade-off. I live in a nice neighborhood and work second shift. I ride to work almost daily and try to be respectful to my neighbors when rolling in at 1 AM. Anyway, just thought I would throw this out there and see what some of y'all are running to give me some ideas.
Also, depending on brand/type - would re-mapping be necessary? At this time, I do not have an aftermarket unit for mapping. However, I do have a K&N high flow air filter installed. Everything else is stock. Thanks in advance!
I'll be selling some 4" Jackpots. I don't want to fool with shipping them though. They sound good at idle or if you are just cruising. They really sound good if you are taking off hard and going thru the gears. HOWEVER, if you hit a little grade and add a little fuel to maintain your speed, which happens often, they have the worse rat-tat-tat-tat staccato tone you ever heard and will drive you nuts if you are doing anything more than short runs.....IMHO. I have the SE255 cam in my bike and "they" tell me that makes them louder. You can keep them quiet at low speeds like in town or in a neighborhood.
(Anybody coming to the BB&Bq rally interested in buying them in person let me know and I'll try to make it happen. PM for more details. )
I definitely want to add a tuner. Which one? That is yet to be determined. I'm still researching. Lot's of opinions on here...which is great! Just can't decide.
Being that the air cleaner has been upgraded...I assume the tuner should be my priority first before getting the slip-ons. Guess I am gonna have to try to work some more OT.

Do like everyone else when it comes to a tuner...take your bike to the dealer, pay them a couple hundred bucks, come here and complain about how they messed up your bike and now it runs terrible, gets sh.tty gas mileage, etc., and then spend the money you should have spent from the get go and get a Power Commander/Power Vision. Hope that helps...
I have gone through many sets of mufflers, Supertrapp, Klack Werks, Rinehart, Samson, still searching for the perfect sound, Ha Ha. But I have a Power Vision and using the auto tune makes the transition from one muffler to the other a breeze. It also helped when I added cams, which also makes the Slipons louder. Good luck with your search, I may try the Cobra's with the 4.5" outlets next, supposed to be very deep sound without being obnoxious.
I bought these on Ebay and really like the deep sound but not to loud. have the CFR look but smaller I believe. Perfect to my likings but everyone is different. I did not need a turer or anything as it runs great with just the slip-ons. Actually i think it runs better with these pipes.
