I've done a 120-21 veerubber WW on a '07 softail deluxe, full fended bike without a single issue a couple years back.
well I finally had a custom set (18x5.5/21x3.5) of 60 spoke DNA wheels build and delivered for my 2010 EG and the tire is rubbing the back 3rd of the inner fender at 60-70 MPH+.
same wheel specs, same tire...
it's made a rub streak about 12" long and boiled the paint on the backside (luckily it's hardly noticeable on black and tucked back by the down tubes)
anyways, anyone else running the wider 21" tire option? have an issue?
this is a beefy 21x3.5" which I feel is the only way to go on these big fenders, but not sure why I'm having a hard time.
I've done what I can to adjust the fender, but there is little adjustment.
was hoping for a tip or quick fix?
maybe a bracket modification or a easy fabrication tweak I can do to get the clearance I need.
I thought about it, but fear it will slide back down from vibration...
maybe I'll just lay a couple tac-welds to fill the old holes.
---
is this normal tho?
are the EG fenders any diff than like a RK? or a softail?
aren't these all the same core big front fenders?
the tire asks for 36lbs. I even tried airing them down a tad...never thought this would be an issue.

I had a similar issue with my 130 21. Some people never have problems, and some of us do. I brought my stock fender to a shop and had them modify my brackets to raise up the fender. But I wanted LOTS of safety margin. Most people feel drilling either the rear or all the mounting holes larger and raisng it up, will suffice. I wanted to be extra careful. I have since found a number of chrome spacers that raise the fender. Like $79 I think. Eastern Performace sell them as well as the wheel guy whose a forum sponsor. Sorry, forgot his name. But he's always on here and super helppful.

notched out the holes and taced up the old.
repainted and letting dry for the day...
I'll prob put it back on tonight or tomorrow after I swap out the fender skirt for a new chrome one and add back the fender rail. I'll update if it worked out with pic.
On baggers we recommend boring out the rear two mounting holes to life the upper rear portion of the fender to keep this from happening. Never had an issue on a softail with a Deluxe or Heritage front fender as it is a little different although it looks the same.
