Accessory rocker switch not working
I have no power on my accessory plug under the seat. I was trying to hook up a GPS. Here's what I did.
1. Located the plug under the seat and put a multimeter on the black lead and the orange lead.
2. Turned on the ignition switch.
3. Turned on the accessory rocker switch.
4. The green light on the rocker switch went on.
5. The multimeter showed approximately 12 volts while connected to black and orange. Good to go.
6. Tapping into the accessory orange wire, I connected my red GPS wire to it.
7. Tapping into the accessory black wire, I connected my black GPS wire to it.
8. Somewhere along the way I accidently crossed the black and orange accessory wires.
9. Turning on the ignition and the accessory rocker switch I now get no power and the green light on the accessory switch does not come on. I figured all I did was blow the fuse.
10. I checked the accessory fuse behind the left side cover and it is good.
I am stumped. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Bill
sure you have 12 volts and not enough current to light a match...you could pour gas on it all day and it wouldn;t spark.
this is where an old school trouble light comes in.
most will light at 6 or 12 volts...but will only light is there is enough current.
attach a trouble light clip to ground and test each of your fuses on the "load" side to ensure they are good.

Thanks guys,

A good alternative fuse is sold at parts stores- they have an led that lights up when the fuse blows.
i have a Pal who is smart about everything except electricity, he installed those in his truck- an ex-plow truck that has some gremlins.
if you want to clean your fuses before your trip:
