Never had one stolen, lotsa times left it hangin' on the mirror, other times have padlocked it to mirror stem.
Before I got a Helmet Keeper, I used a Master combination lock and locked it to my mirror stem...prefer a combo lock, don't have to carry a key. Sure, the mirror stem can be unbolted, but again, helmet thefts are most likely a crime of opportunity...having never stolen one, I couldn't say for certain.
Man, anybody that would steal somebody else's stinky, sweaty head gear has GOT to be desperate...or stooooopid...
Every firearm comes with a lock. I use the cable lock from my shotgun to secure my helmet. If they want it bad enough it won't stop them but might make them go for something easier elsewhere.
