just wondering how many have had their helmet stolen off your bike parked somewhere? mine was stolen off my bike parked outside a Home Depot here in San Antonio Texas
A local cop told me there are d-bags that park in parking lots of the busy retail/grocery stores and watch for people getting out of their cars and walking in. As soon as the car owner walks into the store, the bag goes over and checks the car out knowing he's got plenty of time before the owner returns. Easy pickins.
Since then, I've gone to total lock-down when I'm going into one of those places. It sure would be fun to catch one of those guys some time...
In NYC about 25 years ago, a good friend of my father's parked in front of our house and came inside to talk to the old man. We went back outside not 10 minutes later, helmet was long gone. He was not happy, not at all.
Can't say I have heard about it happening to anyone else I know since then, but I am sure it does all of the time.
I have a pretty expensive black hybrid carbon fiber helmet. I intentionally don't care if I scratch it. It now shows so many scuffs and looks so ugly no one would think about stealing it. I can now just leave it on the seat.
