Tada ........ all fixed. It was in fact a low battery causing the problem. Charged the battery over night and now the screen works as it should. Many thanks for the suggestions and the ultimate solution.
Glad to hear it was something simple. I haven't put the charger on mine but I may start rethinking that. I ride daily but most of my trips are only 3 to 5 mile errands. My battery probably isn't getting back to a full charge very often.

With the Battery Tender plug right there, it's a simple thing to do. I picked one up at Walmart and with the various cables, it's nice to have around not only for the bike but also for the riding mower and any other batteries that set for extended periods of time.
