Never happened to me but I've read of it happening to someone else. If I remember correctly they were on a slight incline and the reverse gear got bound up, rocking it helps to take the pressure off.

That might help explain it, I was going up a little incline (ramp door on trailer).

Happened to me just once. Backed up the incline then went into first gear to drive forward and the trike felt like something was trying to hold me back. Finally broke free and it hasn't happened since! Of course, I don't back up inclines anymore!

I think you and M3 hit the nail on the head. It has never happened to me either.

Just tried it a few more times and yep, it's for real happening. No inclines this time, although when it started I was going up the incline forward not backwards. I stop right away, put the trike in neutral, rev the motor slightly then go back into first at which point it's OK.
Guess I'll take it in next week or as soon as they can get it in when I'm back home.

Those reverse motors are very expensive so it is a good idea for the dealer to check it out.
Cost for a reverse motor is $1385; with installation it is $1580 to replace. I saw the invoice for mine when it was replaced under warranty. By the way, the reverse motor is a restricted part and the dealer has to get permission from the MOCO to order one.
