A good friend of mine is no longer wanting a vrod he has pogressed to the "I NEED a vrod" stage he must have the night rod special. Here is the problem that I face the 08's are coming out and he is asking my advise on rather he should stall the purchase or go get the 07. We have both asked all of the dealers and most of them keep saying they are unable to get the 07 night rod special and to add to the stress the dealers are unsure they will be around in the 08 models. There is one night rod special at a local dealer. Should I tell him to get it or just sit tight?
Tough choice. Rumor has it that all VRSCs will have 1250cc engines. If he waits and the DXs are not available (can't see that happening as good as they are selling) he better get his butt to the dealer the day the new model news is released 'cause there are probably 5 other people in the same position.
As close as it is I'd probably wait, but then again I have no desire for a DX.
Thanks for the advise, I told him what you said and it seemed to make it worse LOL. Everyday he is at the dealer sitting on the bike, I told the owner is problem and he said that he would put the bike in the back for him just in case. However we both agreed to not tell him and the day he goes to buy the bike the owner is going to tell him that someone just bought it. What are friends for right [sm=badbadbad.gif]
I also forgot to add that no one will confirm/deny that with the 1250cc will come the addition of a cat convertor. A cat will choke the engine and make it feel like an 1130cc, thereby making it no better. It will make it harder to find exhaust that won't totally void the warranty and make it hard to tune. Like I said, it's a tough choice--six of one and half dozen of the other. I was in the same boat in '05 and choose to wait, ordered my '06 on July 29th of 2005 and I was glad I waited.
The 8 models that are supposedly cancelled for next year do not include the night rod special the only Vrod models that are going are the SE vrod (VRSCX) and the VRSCR Street Rod or so my dealer says, i think they make too much money off of the night rod special to end it... same with the nightster, theres no way that HD would be that dumb to cut a model that some dealers have back ordered for three months...though big corporations have been know to make stupid decisions before, and theres no way of telling if HD will be then next one to royally screw up. I vote for waiting until 08. unless you mean "they dont know if they'll be around in the 08 models" because theyre back ordered through then. If that were the case i'd say go for it and buy the 07.

If you look closely at the document that has been posted telling us about the 08 v rods it states that they don't have cats but do have 02 sensors . I have got my order in for an 08

Haven't seen that. Thanks for the heads-up. Does it say anything about the 1250?
