I grew up on coopers bbq in Llano! And i love Franklins as well, as a matter of fact, i eat BBQ probably once a day! haha
YES!!! It is bcs the IBA ate at Llano is why I Was asking abt Austin. I went to the Austin location but did not realize they were opening but not open just yet a few years back. It would be another month.
1. Is the Austin location as good as Llano?
2. Franklins I heard is in a BAD area. Tomorrow my friend leaves for Austin (the area) but asked abt the safe aspect to Franklins. Is it safe to go there ? Do and you REALLY need to be there like at 8AM and they are sold out by 11AM or something like that??
Nah nothing to be worried about at all, though Austin has become riddled with homeless, that's probably the only people your friend will deal with, but yes get there early as they do sell out quick. The Llano location is the best location by far, another great place is Texas Pride BBQ in Adkins TX, down towards San Antonio. There is a local privately owned chain of bbq places called Smokey Mo's that's actually really good too (i recommend the chicken.) Now if youre wanting the Holy Grail of BBQ id say go to SNOWS BBQ in Lexington on Saturdays only, get there early cause there will be a massive line. The old lady that runs the place Tootsie puts everyone else to shame, shes around 80yrs old, does all the bbqing herself.
