Shortening the lever will increase the effort required(not a good thing unless you're 300 lbs or a martial arts expert). Theoretically it would increase the speed the engine turns, but it's not the speed but the combination of gas, air, compression and timing when you getover top dead center that starts the engine. For easier kicking a longer arm will work better. I kick an 80" Evo and have been considering a longer lever cause it can be a biotch to kick it thru sometimes. Whatever you do, do not cut and weld on that lever, if it breaks it will tear your leg up. Don't ask me how I know. You'll do better to get your engine tuned properly and it will start easier.
