Welcome from Milwaukee, its ok to start on a BIG TWIN if you use your head and get some seat time before you take on a passenger, though a lot of the meric cruisers are
smaller and lighter (they have more power per cubic inch too) and a little easyier to
manuver

Welcome aboard! You can't go wrong with any choice of Harley, my opinion. Prepare yourself for an addiction.

Welcome from Texas. You might want to pick up an inexpensive used scoot and put in some saddle time before trying to haul momma around on a softail. If you read here you will see that many who even buy a great Harley find that after a short period of time that it's not the one that really want. Any way you choose to go, you're both in for a lot of fun. Ride safe.

Super Glide Custom! You are talking my language! I am the same size as you and shopped for my first Harley (and first bike) in May of this year. Great thing about the FXDC is that you can get a removable windshield, removable saddlebags, and removable backrest and luggage rack. Makes it a nice cruiser for the neighborhood, and you can take a passenger on longer rides. It is in a good price range for an HD, and it is a blast to ride.
Shop like crazy, go to demo days and take test rides, rent a couple of different models, and have a ball!
