smaller and lighter (they have more power per cubic inch too) and a little easyier to
manuver
Welcome from Texas. You might want to pick up an inexpensive used scoot and put in some saddle time before trying to haul momma around on a softail. If you read here you will see that many who even buy a great Harley find that after a short period of time that it's not the one that really want. Great thing about the FXDC is that you can get a removable windshield, removable saddlebags, and removable backrest and luggage rack. Makes it a nice cruiser for the neighborhood, and you can take a passenger on longer rides. It is in a good price range for an HD, and it is a blast to ride.
Shop like crazy, go to demo days and take test rides, rent a couple of different models, and have a ball!
