Hi. I am the proud owner of an '07 Road Glide and I have a coupla questions.
The first one is about replacing the standard gauges with the Dakota Digital MCL-3006-OT 6 gauge set. I'm wondering if anybody has had any problems with these gauges and if they were easy to install, calibrate, and your overall opinion of them.
And secondly, I have a question about improving the quality of the Harmon Kardon stereo that came with the bike. I've replaced the speakers in the fairing with one's from J&M. They have the tweeter in them and sound quite good. However, I like to listen to my music quite loud, and being an equal opportunity offender, I've been looking at setups for the rear of the bike. I've looked at Loud Lids and other systems that mount speakers (6" and 6 X 9's) in the saddle bags. Not wanting to cut a hole in my bags, I've been reluctant to purchase any of these systems. I figured I'd have to resign myself to just installing an amplifier for the two fairing speakers. Hogtunes has a setup specifically for the Road Glide that includes an amplifier and 5 X 7 speakers which looks pretty cool. My problem is: during the Laughlin River Run, I happened upon a brand new system released from a company called Cycle Sounds. They have a system wherein they've manufactured new lids, recessed the front of them and dropped in a set of Polk marine quality 6 X 9 speakers with a grill that fits flush with the top of the lid! You can get them fully loaded (with speakers, amps, wiring, etc.) or just the lids and you drop your own speakers in them. Of course, you have to paint the lids to match the bike. They're the best looking and sounding setup for the rear that I've seen. Now my questions are: 1) Does anyone have these on their bike. Has anyone had any problems with them/installation/support?
Otherwise, I'm very interested to hear from ANYONE that has an unreal sound system on their bike and what components I should be looking at to have one of my own (price permitting).
