switchback vibration ?
I'm on my 3rd Harley...and while my new (to me) '07 Dyna Wide Glide doesn't make my hands go numb nearly as fast (or bad) as my '02 Sportster did, the new Dyna STILL needed some help.
I suffer from mild carpal-tunnel syndrome. I recently read somewhere that glueing a roll of nickels inside the ends of the handlebars (to act as bar-end weights) will reduce the amount of vibration by dampening the resonant vibration frequency of the handlebars. It sounded crazy, but I was going to cut the OEM grips off anyway to install foam grips.
2 rolls of Nickels: $4.00 (The Bank)
EMGO Chrome / Neoprene Foam Grips: $16.00 (eBay)
Small white project-sized tube of caulking: $6.00 (Lowe's)
I installed the roll of Nickels in the left hand handlebar first, followed by the left grip. I started the bike and held on to both bars. The difference is NIGHT AND DAY! The mirror didn't buzz nearly as bad either. The wife sat on the bike and she even said "Holy ****". She noticed it too.
I squirted some caulking into the handlebar, and slowly twisted the paper Nickel roll tube into the handlebar. It was a very precise fit, and I had to tap the last 1/2" in with a plastic mallet.
I'M TELLING YOU, THIS $4.00 MOD WORKS!
Hope it helps.
