seems like there's a lot more choices an better prices on 06 an down wheels on ebay an amazon... does anyone know of a 25 mm ID bearing that replaces the 1" ID bearing? the newer 25 mm bearings are narrower...the wheels for the 1" bearings have wider pockets for the bearing..I assume the inner spacer will be correct since the only thing changing is the diameter of the inner sleeve.

Hey Langley,
Yes, you're correct. You can buy the bearing kit and change them out. I did this on a Sunday and got me some cheap Chinese trailer bearings and swapped them into my softail front wheel. Originally a 3/4 now is a one inch to match the axle on the upgraded front end.
Hey Tom...my understanding is 1" an 3/4" are the same thickness but HD went to a single row of bearings for the 25 mm...I'll keep looking though...thanks.
The 5205-2rs is a double row double sealed bearing that measures 25x52x20.6. Roughly .016" narrower than the Harley 9247 1" bearing. Since you have to replace the outer spacers anyway, get 1) 0222-0173 and 1) 0222-0154 Drag Specialty spacers. The short one goes on the right, the longer one needs trimmed to .974" and will go on the left. Should bolt right up with the 25mm axle. The early rear wheel won't work on the '09 up.
Non ABS of course. Those bearings should out last the motorcycle.
They could also be put in the late model wheels to prevent bearing failures, just shorten the outer spacers by .220".
I've changed a 3/4" bearing wheel to 1", also a 25mm to 1". Those sealed ball races are all the same OD and interchange, but the 25mm requires a longer bearing spacer. The simplest way to get one is to buy a bearing kit from H-D, which comes with bearings and spacer.
Thanks LT1....I'll look for a quality brand of that bearing. I see vxb carries one for around $20. Now I just have to sell my the switchback front wheel I picked up so I can buy a 21" spoke one.

I neglected to pick up that it is a soft tail wheel. My advice is for the touring wheels but the bearing is 1" id and .016" narrower as stated. Off hand I don't know the width of the soft tail spacers but they would need to be .016 wider also. Sorry for the confusion.
thanks for the heads up....I can't make up my mind now LOL. I like the spoke look on the bike but the mag wheels are easy since there's no spokes to work loose an no worries/expense buying inner tubes. Looks like it depends on what I get the best deal on....if a nice 21" spoke that matches falls in my lap I'll prob do it, if a nice switchback rear wheels pops up I might just go that route.
