I have a 2012 flhx and at 9500 miles I had to have my front tires replaced due to side wall cracking, this past weekend, Inspected my tires and found the front is again starting to crack, I now have 15000 miles on the odometer. I don't use any tire dressing, and have not used any soap and water on the tires. I kept in a shed, My last bike I owned I had replaced the front tires due to being worn out. I due nothing any different, what is the reason for the cracking?
That would depend----------------I would have to see the cracks to have a better idea.Sometimes if they are close to a electric motor or something else generating tire killing compounds they can crack faster.I have seen bikes parked inside a shop with a window that sun shines on them all the time do it as well.It also could be the tire as well just having a issue with sunlite.
no chemicals at all in my shed, tire date is 0612, looks like the tire was about 6 months old when it was installed, myself and few coworkers feel it could have been a bad batch, anyway have an appointment at the dealer saturday.
Hello, I have a 2010 wide glide and my front tire was replace twice under warranty for cracking and splitting around the complete tire near the center.. I had the first replacement at around 800 miles then again around 1800 miles... I noticed a different tire on the newer glides and I believe it was a bad batch of tires...
One of my riding partners has a front tire on his 09 Ultra that is cracking. It is just over a year old. Dealer said not to worry. He has never seen one blow out. He's taking it to a different dealer. I don't trust any tire that is cracking, Period. Going to Michelin Commander II's on mine when they wear out or start the cracking.
