Default Rear Brake Pads

I have a 2012 street glide. I got 9000 miles out of my rear brakes. Is that normal ?
I asked the dealer how long do the brake pads normally last. His reply was depends how much you use them. I said. Every time I stop. Dumb A$$

How many miles do you get from the rear pads. And what's better than. Stock. They are 60.00 for that amount. There should be a better brake pad

That sounds low. I have about 18600 on mine but they are getting thin. No offense in my question but how is your braking? I can see getting that if you are only using your rear brake or rear brake more than the front then maybe. Other than that I dunno.

After thinking about it, are they worn evenly?

I use my front brake 80% and use my rear just to help out.
Bike has abs. And yes the rear pads wore even all the down to the metal.
Front look better than 50% left.
But damn new brakes have very thin lining
Thanks.

Normal if you use more of the rear brakes than the front.

How thick were the pads when they were replaced?

Unhappy

I'm at a loss then, you should be getting more than 9000 on a set of pads. Sorry I couldn't help more.

24K and mine are toast on my 2012 Ultra.
I ride long distances mostly, with a mix of twisties at times.
I do a lot of engine braking.

9k sounds very low...

Sounds like either your using the rear more than you think, or putting your foot on the pedal as a rest. or your brakes are dragging. I hear the Lindells are worth the money (could be spelled wrong).

I easily get 20K on mine - and the front about 30-35K

OK, I recently bought a 98 ultra classic with 60,000 miles on it and the back brakes started squeaking the other day. I found there are different materials for the braking surface (sintered, organic, kevlar...) and it seems the sintered has the best rating HH. However, I read that if the original brakes were not sintered, you should not replace with sintered. I don't hot rod or race, but do like an occasional blast around the twisties and I think I am easy on my brakes so does the material really matter?
