For some reason I noticed that after the temps warm up to 85F or higher, my XM Module will randomly reboot. The radio itself does not reboot that I can tell. My radio will be playing along and suddenly drop to AM. When I go to select XM, where XM would be is 'Setup'. After a few seconds XM shows back up and Setup goes back to the upper right corner. I select XM and all is fine until the next occurrence, which again is random and without a time pattern. When this happens, the NAV remains running, which is why I do not believe the radio itself is rebooting.
Question 1: Does this happen with anyone else?
Question 2: Has anyone been able to get the issue resolved?
I mentioned it to my dealer, however they haven't been able to replicate the issue. I am coming up on the end of the two year warranty, so if it needs replacement, I would obviously rather get it replaced before the warranty ends.
I've had the XM module on my bike for 2 years now and in temps up to 100° and it's never done that. I use XM all the time. Wouldn't do without it.
Thanks for the confirmation. Didn't start having the issue until late last year. Being in TX, over 85F is most of the year, lol. I have the bike in for the 60K service and asked them to look at it again and if need be to try to heat gun trick.
I would suggest having the dealer pull the module and reinstall to re-seat the connection pins.

My XM locks up rarely, but it has locked up 4 or 5 times in 10,172 miles last year between July 7 and October 31. (2015 Road Glide Special).
I pull over in a shady spot when convenient and turn off my ignition ... leave it off for at least 2 minutes and then restart my motorcycle.

Yeah, I have had similar from time to time, especially the popping. But with newer firmware it has been less often. This event is completely different. It's like someone unplugged the XM module, waited a few seconds, then plugged it back in. I have a feeling it has a poor solder point or two and when it gets hot it loses connectivity. At least in this case I don't have to pull over and shut down the bike for a couple of minutes to reboot the whole unit. It does suck that I lose weather radar and have to wait 15 minutes for an update to see what's going on.
