How do I get my Boom 6.5 to display the software version I'm running?
Instruction are listed right on the HD download page.
The info can also be found in the Boom Owners Manual.
1. Verify your audio systems current software version.
a. Select the following display menu items: Home/Set-up/System Information Software Version.
b. Record the software version.
c. Compare your audio systems software version with the latest version available on this page.
d. If the software versions are the same, you have the latest software available and there is no need to update. If a higher level software level is available on harley-davidson.com, continue to update your audio system.
Bike is showing version 1.18.3. Tried to follow the Update Instructions on the website to install 1.20.1 but doesn't seem to see the file. USB drive plays music fine.
When I turn the bike on after holding the trip switch it goes into diagnostics but a fresh UBS with the download doesn't trigger the option to down load. Tried to activate by selecting the USB media input and it isn't an option. Any help would be appreciiated
You might be MUCH more comfortable having the dealer do it for you if computers and software are not your thing.
You need to unzip the file you DL on your hard drive, copy the .iso to the root of the thumb, insert in the USB on the bike and it will start the update. I always pull any music thumb first, switch to ACC then insert the update thumb.
Make sure you put your bike in accessory mode first, wait for the radio to fully boot up, then insert thumb drive. Your bike will recognize the file (as long as the file is placed in the root), and then wait for your radio to tell you its done. You can watch the progress on your radio.
