I am going to install a de-catted head pipe on my 15 Ultra Limited. Do I install my existing exhaust sensors in the bung holes? Or do I plug the the holes in the head pipe and disconnect the wiring for the for the sensors? I did this once before and I just screwed in the existing senors into the head pipe. I have a Screamin Eagle air cleaner and a set of V&H slips-ons with the latest V&H tuner (FP3)
Do i need to change the setting on the FP3 for removing the cat?
Thanks in advance!!
You just hook the O2 sensors back up to the head pipe just like they were with the stocker. You might need to re-tune it. V&H as well as some others have talked about cross talk mucking with the auto tune function. Others have stated no issues from a seat of the pants perspective. Drop V&H a line and have them send you a new map at the very least.
I had a vance and Hines power duals pipe on my 14 ultra, switched to a decatted stock pipe, used stock holes for 02 sensors, works just fine, and I don't have the massive heat from the pipe like with the V&H. I have stage 2 , didn't change anything. If you look at some dyno comparisons on fuel moto site the decatted stock gives the best numbers.
I am doing the same swap this winter when I get a new tire. Glad you posted the question. I grew up in Cleveland on the west side and my mom lives in North Olmsted off of sterns road. Ever stop by the Jail House off of 83?
I'm running a very similar setup, heavy breather, de-catted factory pipe, V&H Twin Slash and the FP3. I used high flow air filter, pro-pipe and twin slash for my tune settings, ran real good. Tried an auto tune for the hell of it, no difference, if anything a bit hotter. Pinged V&H, they had me send my tune via the app, few hours later they had a tune back to me, it is fantastic, couldn't be happier. V&H support is great, give them a shout, they will hook you up.
I was looking into this an I read somewhere if you contact V&H they will send you a tune they recommend for the catless stock head pipe. I also saw where some guys extend the pipe inside the collector a few inches to help stop the cross talk. I was going to do this until I happened to find some S&S tru duals locally for $85.
To the guy in Ohio...there's a guy on craigslist selling decatted head pipes for $100 in North Olmsted.

Check in the touring sale section. I'm selling my stock decatted headpipe
