Starter repeatedly clicks, doesn’t turn over engine

It’s starting!
I cleaned the ground connections, it didn’t seem very tight. I cleaned all the positive terminals. I found an unplugged cable from the tuner. I plugged that in, reinstalled the new starter and it fired up. I’m thinking it was a loose ground assuming that I rebuilt the old starter correctly. I unplugged the cable from the tuner to see if it would keep it from starting and it fired up anyway, so it had to be the ground. I’ll keep the new starter in and save the old one for a spare, or maybe sell it. I was going to put the old starter in to see if it would start but I think I lost that little ball bearing that drops into the starter clutch drive. I could have used the ball bearing from the new one to see, but I’m ready to put the bike back together and ride. Thanks for everyone’s help. This is my first bike and I’ve only been riding for a few months. Hadn’t really done anything to the bike prior to this, other than change all the fluids when I first bought it.

The negative battery cable has two ends to it. The connection to the block is what I think was loose and/or corroded.
