Legends Air-A Post Install notes
Youtube video:
I installed these on a 2017 Ultra Limited CVO
I took the front outer fairing off to thread the harness through the handlebar hole before going back under the tank and zip-tying it next to the OEM harness. I'd almost recommend doing this on a separate day, just to break up the install a bit if you're having to do it after work or like me, you want to take your time. After all, $2K is a lot of money.
From now on, you'll have to drop this pump assy to change the transmission and engine oil. You'll see the drain plugs on the engine are directly in this same space when he's mounting the pump around 9:50 in the video.
It took a little bit to determine the best rotation for the pump outlet valve. The assembly is "L" shaped and the section that the hose attaches to runs parallel to the engine towards the back. The hose attachment rotates to either side of that assembly so the hose can come off on the outside or the inside and face front or back. I finally rotated that end towards the inside, with the outlet facing forward so the hose looped towards the pump and then over to the frame on the right side to travel along the frame to the right wiring harness and up as in the video. Look at the orientation of the pump lying on the floor as he's routing the hose at about 9:45 in the video.
Be VERY aware of how close the air line is to the exhaust if you are following the above and threading it back up on the right side. One inch or so is not enough. Here are two tips: A) find some 5/32" ID hose and cut about 8-12", thread the air line through this and use it as an insulator to protect the air line at the frame where it goes from horizontal to the pump to vertical up the frame with the wiring harness and B) make sure it is BEHIND the OEM harness and zip-tie in place. Ask me how I know . . .
Be very aware of how the hose threads to the shock forward under the side covers. There is a tendency to crush the line - you may want to use the same hose mentioned above to prevent that where it goes under the cover.
I'm 225 and found the "2" setting riding solo pretty good.
Go ahead and order the "roadside repair kit" or at least the 8' spare hose and put it in your saddlebag for peace of mind.
It took me about 3 hours overall taking my time and trying to be very thorough - not the "whole day" my local dealer told me it would take. Again, $2K is a lot of money.
