This is my first touring model, so I am not sure if this is a common issue or not. I didn't find anything helpful when I ran a search either. When I close the lid on the tour pack and latch it shut I can hear squeaking. After investigating, I discovered if I grabbed a hold of the latch it quit. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you know of a fix other than having the dealer replace the latch?
I had the dealer address this issue and they replaced the tour pak hinge. I'm not sure how many miles after the hinge replacement but it started squeaking again. You'll see from the attached thread that most just came up with their own fix, which is what I eventually did. It's sad that a $30k bike has an issue like this but maybe the redesign of the tour pak has something to do with it. I'd let your dealer first address it within your warranty and see what happens. I may let my dealer look at mine again when I go in for the ABS brake line recall.
Mine was making a significant squeaking noise. I took it to the dealer and they found that one of the support brackets for the tour pak was loose. They tightened it up and the squeak went away. It might be worth checking something other than the hinge.

Yeah, been talked about many times, I just stuck a thin piece of weatherstripping (maybe 1/8" wide) on the top portion of the latch where the chrome piece clamps down on it and no squeak after several thousand more miles, no need for me to take to a dealer for such a trivial and easily fixed minor thing (at least in my case). YMMV

I'll try that tonight. It's a shame that they couldn't get something so small right on a $30K bike.
