I live in the UK. This is my first Harley and I absolutly love it. 6'2" and get very little windblast from the screen at 70 mph, just a touch at 80mph, so maybe a touch taller could be just right. 68 English mpg, so really happy. Parts appear to be very limited coming out of Harley though.
Just had this beauty delivered today. Took her out on the maiden voyage and am loving it. First Harley and first street bike. Previous experience in the dirt. Will keep her mostly stock but was able to get some taller bars thrown in the deal that are on their way.
Loving it so far. Just getting back into riding. Rode an old Honda Shadow back in the day, but this is my first Harley. Loving it so far. This seemed like a great "compromise" bike for me. Won't be doing serious touring, but will do the occasional 4 hour or so trip. So I was looking for something that would do OK on middle-distance sort of trips but is also more cruiser than tourer. So far, I am loving it. Only thing I am really planning for early mods is a decent slip on. Leaning toward Tab with Zombie baffles, but who knows who else will enter the market before I pull that trigger. Looks like the Sport Glide slip on market is pretty new! Hoping to see some other stalwarts jump into the space.
When I first test road the Sport Glide I noticed it was very quick on the throttle however as most of the riding was highway this didn't present as an issue. The test ride convinced me to buy the bike however I added a high flow air cleaner and a Bassani Road Rage touring pipe. The dealer fitted this along with re-map using a Direct Key. For the initial run in I was again on the highway. Post this, around town, I'm finding the throttle action so direct that hitting a bump can see the bike "take off" alarmingly.
In my limited discussions with other owners the 107ci M8 appears to have a reputation for instant response compared to the 114. However I'm finding "instant" race track response a nuisance.
I gather there is a potential "throttle progressivity" adjustment via the Direct Key and ECU that may alter this annoying quirk.
Has anyone else been having this sort of issue and, if so, what was the solution ?
Apart from the heated grips, engine guard, sundowner seat, sissy bar and rack, everything else is stock. No problems with the throttle at all. Didn't think it needed any more power and the air cleaner and stock exhaust are good for me.
I just ordered a replacement 12" Slip Streamer windshield for my Sport Glide as I found a bit of wind buffeting at 70mph with the stock windshield and like the look of a taller windshield. Has anyone has installed a different windshield yet? Obviously taking the fairing off is a breeze but not sure about removing the windshield itself from the fairing. Any tips/tricks are greatly appreciated!
