Been snowing off and on since Christmas so I've been stuck unable to ride. Put my Bassani pipes on but haven't been able to get out to take the after sound clip for the before and after comparison yet. I've noticed I get a better sound clip by recording ride-by's at different throttle positions so I'm just waiting for a break in the snow and clear roads to complete the video.
While impatiently waiting, I've been trying to decide if I want to run the pipes with or without the heat shields. After a while I decided to put them on. I dig the gold pipes when they turn gold but worry about the heat coming off the bare pipes. I like my pants and skin as well so they shall stay on. The look of the heat shields is growing on me the more I look at them.
The pipes look gold in this picture because of the roof of the carport but it gives a good idea of the color they will turn. If the muffler also turns gold I may have to remove the heat shields...
I got my DOUGZ fairing last week. Super simple install and everything fit as it should. This is a really high quality fairing and it performs great. I'll be sending it off for paint soon. I'm stoked! Check it -
I think a paint job will make it pop a bit. Not sure about a Blake bike, but a colored one, a two tone would look good I think. Paint matched lower and black for the top half.
That looks pretty good with the gold tint from the carport cover! Maybe you could get the whole pipe, muffler, and heat shields ceramic coated?
In any case, what do the Bassani heat shields cover? Do they extend from the cylinders all the way down to the 2-1 collector? Or do they only cover the top portion of the header pipes?

They cover the headers from about and inch from the cylinders down to just before the collector. In the second picture of my post you can see where the heat shield coverage ends just in front of the collector.

Thanks for clarifying, it is clearly obvious now. Looking forward to the sound video.
This fairing / screen is the best I've seen yet. Dougz customs are putting these into production in the next few weeks.
It does look pretty cool. Definitely great for use with stock handlebars. Not sure how great it would look with taller bars though. I'm still super happy with my setup. The fairing is so robust and it definitely gets the job done when it comes to deflecting wind.

Definitely keep the heat shields on. Thank me later.....

Yes I most definitely will. After melting my wet weather pants on the exposed collector I decided I better leave the heat shields on so I don't do the same to my leg at some point. Thanks for the suggestion!

I know some people have been looking far a sissybar/rack combo and I found this guy that makes custom ones for half the price of the hold fast stuff. I ordered a 20 inch with the wizard tip. He can make whatever you need.
