Can I assume you were riding at 45 the whole time? 199 out of a tank would be over 55 mpg, that's huge mpg...

I was doing 60. I had my tinted visor on last night (Oops!) so I didn't feel safe going any faster.

I got real freaked out around 180 miles so I slowed down to 50MPH. I really thought I was going to run out of gas!

I put 3.615 gallons in the 3.5 gallon tank!

That's phenomenal. Did you happen to be using the miles-to-empty readout, and did you check how long you were able to drive on LOW? They say 10 miles but I suspect that they're underestimating it.

I always run it down to the low message, and beyond.

I have always gotten at least 10 miles past the low message. I do slow down to 60 in 6th gear when the display says that, just to be safe.

I bought the 107 specifically because it will get better fuel mileage than the 114. (The 107 has more than enough torque for my riding.)

I make a game out of getting good mileage. I think the two biggest factors in good mileage are:

I am not in a hurry to get anywhere.
I use cruise control 99% of the time.

YMMV

I got 3 (!) replies from Avon about tires:
  • "Here are the Avon Tyres you should use on your bike...
    Front:
    Avon Cobra AV71 MT90B16
    Part number: 90000001364
    Rear:
    Avon Cobra AV72 180/70R16
    90000001152"
  • "We have the front but the only tire we have for the rear is a lower profile 180/65B16."
  • "We make a radial in that rear size but couldn't recommend without testing."

OEM = 150/80-16 71H & 180/70B16 77H

I was thinking:

Avon: 90000001165 AV71 150/80R16 71V & 90000001152 AV72 180/70R16 77H

Radials front and rear. But now I am confused!

Those match up perfectly to the OEM's down to the load rating. That's what I'd go with.

Here are the OEM tires: https://www.dunlopmotorcycletires.com/tire-line/d429/

And here is a Dunlop model that has the same sizes in radials: https://www.dunlopmotorcycletires.com/tire-line/d251/

Here is a Metzeler model in radials, too: https://www.metzeler.com/site/com/pr...hon_ultra.html

I sent an email to Metzeler to see what they say.

Posted this up in another thread but wanted to put it here so that it's on the consolidated thread. I had my gauge replaced under warranty due to it having a mass amount of condensation in it making it unreadable. This past Friday, Patriot HD in Fairfax, VA replaced it....with another gauge that already had condensation in it. The moment I got the bike back in my hands I noticed it and had a conversation with the warranty specialist and she said "it was good when we installed it and maybe this happened when we washed your bike" (it wasn't washed/cleaned in any way). Now they are saying that won't replace it but it's a known issue and HD is working on it. They are only replacing ones that are unreadable. A little pissed about it but I'd rather them replace it once they have the quality control issues resolved.

Even though the spark plug on the M8 is smaller, these fit and look pretty nice: https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...rk-plug-covers

There are no "fins" we can add because the ones they have for sale have diamond-cut edges.

Also, I have my preload set to 1.5 even though the manual says for me to use 0.5 for a 210 pound guy.

I'm curious where you all ended up with your preload adjustment.

I had a Low Rider S. If people asked me how it handled, I told them it handled great for a Harley.

The Fat Bob handles great period. They really nailed the chassis IMO.
