The Everything Fat Bob Thread
"That is definitely upside down. As briefly mentioned on their web page, the rubber bumpers are to be removed from the risers and installed to the bottom of the riser extensions."
"I just read more of the thread and see the confusion. What I think is going on, is that most people never noticed the large gap under their stock risers, so when they see it under the extensions, it confuses them. I, as many, feel that the gap is unsightly. However, HD intends for it to be there......sort of a suspension for the risers, I am sure for dampening vibration to the riders hands. So, our extensions are intended to to have slight interference (press) fit with the stock risers. Our machined in “nubs” will press into the bottom of the stock risers where the rubber bumper originally was. It’s a very tight fit, and likely will not push in by hand but will when crushed together while torquing the bolt.
Then, the bumpers install to the bottom of the extension, and the extension will sit above the triple clamp exactly as the original riser once did. Removing the bumpers and bushing cup washer will allow it all to sit lower and be more flush, for those who really want that… but it is important to consider that will increase NVH to the handle bars, and it will probably also damage the finish on the triple clamp and possible chip the powdercoat on the corner of the extensions, to have the metal/metal contact. "
"Let me add one more comment…..I do know that some Fat Bobs seem to have no gap under the factory risers. This seems to be an exception, as all of them that I have personally seen do.. but a couple users have shown me that they did not. Without having one of those bikes here at the shop, it is impossible for me to know why they do not. Possibilities could be: missing a part during factory assembly, shorter bushing sleeves, deeper bumper recess… who knows! Maybe it’s production timeline thing.. like perhaps earlier Fat Bob didn’t have as much dampening and due to NVH they decided to add more??"

It's nothing to it, like I take your post as an example, ( see in the quote ) just click/mark the picture or text that you want to delete as you do with a normal text and hit the delete button, same for add some text.

The only way I could reduce the gap to be about the same as the stock gap was to remove the top washer on the riser bushings as mentioned above in CJ's reaponse. It never bothered me none.
