Last couple of questions. I see you stayed with your stock cam plate and I assume oil pump. Any concerns about having not "upgraded" to an aftermarket pump and plate? Also did you stick with the stock lifters as well?
I have just read everywhere that it is recommended to upgrade to aftermarket oil pump and cam plate. New lifters will come with the cam kit I'm ordering so I'll just replace them but I would rather not spend another 740 bucks on the cam plate and oil pump if I don't have to.
I used new S & S Lifters as well. I thought long and hard about the oil pump and came to the conclusion that for the level of power I am at it isn't necessary. I would love to have it, but it is super pricey. Buying it with out knowing my crankshaft runout before seemed sketchy as well. I know a lot of people will say "your already in the camchest, why not replace it now", but I am a mechanic and it isn't that difficult to go back in the cam chest if I do a big bore kit down the road.
My opinion: cam swap doesn't need a fancy oil pump, big bore kit does.
Thanks for the posts/motivation, I think I'll give Fuel Moto a call today, I have all the tools I need for a cam install. Now with all this down time and crappy weather for the next two weeks is a good time to do this instead of waiting for winter.
No problem, a buddy of mine just ordered similar stage two upgrades for his 19 RGS after I rode over to his house the let him hear mine. That lopey cam sound got him!

Makes sense. Thanks again for the insight and suggestions/thoughts. I may just skip the cam plate and oil pump for now as well. I was just a bit concerned since everywhere says to swap them out even for a cam upgrade only.
That will save me quite a bit of money that can go to other parts or gear. I appreciate all of your help. I'll let you know how it goes. Off to get the orders put in!
I took some short videos of the cold start before work and then a normal operating temperature start after getting home. Just posting them in case anyone is interested in this combination or how lopey the cam/exhaust sound is. COLD START
Sounds bad ***! Can't wait to do this already. I'm going with a CR-480 after seeing several charts with this cam.
Great choice as well. I got a little overwhelmed with all the cam dyno charts and settled on the 475. My buddy just ordered the Woods 22x and I am excited to see/hear that one in person as well.
