Angry HD quarter fairing install help

I just bought a new 2020 low rider s last month and recently received the HD quarter fairing as well as the mounting brackets in the mail. While installing yesterday, I had the hardest time getting the brackets to lineup. I eventually got the brackets to the point to where I could mount the fairing, however it cuts off the top portion of the headlight and has a size able gap between the bottom of the headlight and the bottom lip of the fairing. Every thread and video I’ve researched on the installation makes it seem as thought it is super simple... so am I missing something here? The brackets appear to only go on one “right” way but maybe I’ve got them on backwards. Like I said. The fairing is on the bike, it just appears to be about 2-3 inches lower than it should be.

sorry for the rant or if I posted this in the wrong section. I am very frustrated with the fact that I’ve spent close to 500 bucks for something that does not appear to be on correctly, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Here are some pics to help get a better understanding. Is it something I put on wrong? are the brackets bent?

I have messed with these brackets every which way up and down the forks and I swear I think I got sent brackets for another bike or something... nothing is lining up.

Did I get sent the wrong brackets? The part number on these brackets is 57001249. The part number for the 2020 low rider s according to the Harley website is 57001250.

however the instructions that came with the brackets specifically mention a 2020 low rider s and even detail how to remove the speed screen before installing.... I am at a loss here.

It looks like you had the same problem that I had, Not with the HD quarter fairing but when I changed my headlight and bought a cheap headlight bucket from Amazon, I ended up having to buy the Memphis Shades extention kit which enabled me to drop it down and forward!

I would wait for other replies though from someone who prehaps has installed that exact fairing.

Thanks Lanyu for that suggestion. I had looked into that in all of my research and almost ordered a extension block... however I have finally got to the bottom of it.

i was sent the wrong brackets. I was looking for the brackets ending in part number 50, and got sent the ones ending in 49. So I was trying to mount brackets to a bike they were never meant for... in my defense the instructions are universal for both part numbers, thus why they mentioned my fxlrs.

so end of the story... I’m stupid for trying to put the wrong part on for the better part of two days.

The correct part is on back order til the 19th, so I guess I’m stuck looking at my fairing in my garage til the end of the month.

In the meantime you solve your problem with the brakets, it will be nice to show us the interior of the fairing, in order to understand what have been changed in the mountings in this new version, compared with the previous one that was having so many problems. The new part number should be 57001615DH and maybe one of the owners of the old version will be able to find out the differences...
The brackets seem the same, as per the fixing system with the grommets, I was hoping that HD put 4 screws instead of them, but it seems not.

Interesting... I did not order the "new brackets". I ordered the brackets with part number 57001250. So I assume these will be the original design and not the updated version you are referring to. I had the hardest time finding the 57001250 in stock... makes sense why now, seeing as they have updated the brackets with a new part number.

I've already heard the complaints regarding the old brackets and how they mount. At this point though I just want the fairing mounted. It's a shame that HD designed the mounting system so poorly considering the fairing itself looks amazing on the bike.

After re-reading your post I see that you were talking about the fairing itself and not the brackets. Yes, that is the fairing I ordered and have sitting in my garage. So I will gladly post pictures to this thread whenever I get the right brackets to mount the damn thing, lol.
