Yea, once that WiFi connection is made, whoever provides the services can track you nine ways from nowhere. It's possible to see your location, speed etc. GM got rapped on the knuckles a while back for sharing customer's data. I've only used it to update the NAV maps. It's not normally connected when I ride.
And for OTA updates.. I can't see it happening over a phone hotspot. The current upgrade is 8 Gigs. That's a serious chunk of data. I'm pretty sure they'll recommend connecting to a home router.
(I'm actually looking for a way to extend my WiFi to my detached garage which is over 50 feet from the house).
Anytime you connect to a Wi-Fi network on the IFCU, you have to agree to them collecting your data. Theres a rather lengthy pop-up that explains this every time.
I'm going to wait a bit, but would be very interested to know if the Carplay headset nag has been fixed. The lack of zoom control is THE reason I never bought the OEM Nav. If the new release is stable, that may be my next upgrade.
lowbar,
I was receiving the exact same error as you. I was able to resolve the issue by re-installing the previous software update (version 240002237D from March 2024). I obtained the update from my local dealer. This updated the Skyline OS Version to 240002237D to match the software version and allowed me to contine at Step 10 as the directions state... hope this helps
Thank you! I had the 2237D files on my PC from when I did the update last March. Although the bike said I had that update it took it which allowed me to update to 4125D. Issue resolved!
A quick look at the Nav system and the zoom fix is awesome. I played a little music off my thumb drive and I'm wondering if it has more volume? I didn't ride the bike, so I don't know for sure.
I am using a Mac. The update downloads and unzips into the Download folder automatically. I copied the files creatied in Downloads/INSTANA_26004126D to the prepared USB drive. The first update completed successfully. The second update ,CAL_NA_260404100D, fails during the update validation suggesting a corrupted file. I followed the troubleshooting suggestions and erased the drive (exFAT) and reinstall the files. I continue to have the same problem quoting a corrupted file. Has anybody else rented this??

success. I zipped the update files in the Downloads/INSTANA_26004126D folder and unzipped them using the USB drive as the target using the command line. I am now updating the remaining files. Hopefully, I won't have a problem.
