Heated gear and fuses
Hey guys, looking for some input here. I’m going for a trip to North Carolina but the weather here in Ohio will be a little nippy. I’m looking at temperatures in mid 30s, which is pretty cold for me. I recently went out and purchased Gerbing heated gear. I got their jacket, pants and gloves. I also purchased two-way switch. I’m waiting for it all to arrive so I can test it this week. My question is around the power. Am I going to have any issues with fuses popping out if I plug all that stuff into the bike? What’s your experiences with heated gear? Anything I should look for? Any tips or tricks. I also purchased 3 foot extension so I can plug it in from underneath the seat to the jacket. Thanks for any input.
If you are going to hook the connection directly to the battery, you should have no issues. However, make sure the connection has an in-line fuse and take extra fuses in case one blows, never a good thing with heated gear in the cold with a blown fuse.
If you are going to use an adapter and connect through the built in charging cable, you should not have any issues either but make sure you know which fuse the charging cable uses and take extra fuses.
Probably good idea to test the gear out prior to the trip. If you do blow a fuse, disconnect the heated pants first to limit the amperage used.
Have a good ride.

Get the wireless remote control thermostat thingy. It is a game changer. I zip tied the remote to my mirror bracket and it is easy to adjust on the fly instead of digging in the pocket to turn the stove down.

The answer to your question is the fuse capacity you use in the inline battery harness for the coax connection for the heated gear. Gerbing will ship you a little package of fuses from 7.5 amp all the way to 15 or 20 amp. They are color coded and will have a chart explaining the colors. I run the blue 15-amp fuse and it's been fine with heated liner and gloves. Will be fine for your setup as well.

Thanks guys. I don’t think the controller I bought is Bluetooth capable. This is what ordered:
