What size is the axle bolt and nut on the rear wheel of an '08 Fat Bob? The bolt looks to be 1-1/8". The nut looks to be 36mm though. It doesn't seem quite big enough to be 1-7/16" and too big to be 1-3/8". Which, if that's metric then the bolt might be 28mm instead.
So, does the parts manual give the sizes? A 1" wrench won't fit on the axle bolt and 1-1/8" is too loose. 28mm and 36mm seems most likely. Maybe I'll look for a plus size set, just 1" and up.

The round part of the axle itself is 1", I misread what you asked for in your first post. A 1.125 socket will work on the axle hex head, although I'm betting it's a 28mm. The axle nut is 36mm.
Having just removed and reinstalled my week/tire last week, I can attest to the sizes. I also did not need any wrench on the axle head, even torquing to 100ft/lbs.
A 36mm fit the axle nut fine. I couldn't find a 28mm, 27mm was the closest, but it's too small. That's bigger than a 1-1/16" so I guess it must be a 1-1/8" or maybe 1-3/32" or 1-5/64". Whatever it is in reality I'm calling it a 1-1/8".
