With Bill and Gannicus's advice and assistance I just finished installing the BT 4180 & Pros up front with new Kickers in the rear pods (Bill included the new harness for running the rear pod speakers). Sound is dramatically improved and I have Bass/Treble and Fade working (stock 4.3 HU). Running at about 1/3 volume with the bass notched up about three bars and the treble zero bars and the fade one bar towards the rear the mid-range and treble are almost too much. If I crank the volume up a tad or shift more fade to the rear the Kickers start fuzzing up. I'm hesitant to do the flash for fear of losing the B/T/F control. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Dealer - who is a two hour ride away - advises at least two weeks before they can flash. With all of the other issues I'm real close to pulling the 4.3 HU and going with BT's mount and a Kenwood 998...Just sayin'
Well I am not happy at all, I had Factory flash, a RF PBR300X2 and Kicker CS 6.75 speakers in the pods with polly fill and it rocked! I could turn heads 3 blocks away, it was clean and I had a little bass. So I had my head unit flashed for 1 amp 2 speakers per BT ,,,lost the bass I had and lost some volume. The Speakers pop now on power up also.
I installed the BT Speaker and bracket kit to do away with the pods and re adjusted the gain ad freq several times and it sounds like crap now! Very disappointing!!!
I cant get it to even come close to what I had.
I just got back from my trip. Haven't had a chance to get to the dealer yet, but I did find some improvement while i was traveling. I will say it wasn't a cheap band-aid though....I bought an iPod Nano and used it's EQ settings to improve the sounds on my system for the short term. Setting the iPod on it's "Rock" setting definitely improved overall sound, and specifically filling out some base while riding.
I'm not saying this is a great solution, I just wanted to experiment and see if the tone issue was fixable with outside EQ.
I can guarantee yall that is not the hardware that is the problem. I took my 4180's and my BT Pros/Legatias off my 13 street glide with an aftermarket deck. In there it sounded phenomenal.
in the 15... with every other flash I get moments of greatness...... Our problem now is the source unit.
Speaking of which, how did the ones that aren't on a road glide (factory 02_OFF/ON.bin) get the 02_OFF.BIN? I'm on a limited and my dealer just let me have at it on the digital tech.. went through 5 iterations until I finally settled at 00_OFF/ON.BIN (which, incidentally, is the stock file for the Limited) as they changed up the setup quite a bit. You no longer pick how many amps in the option screen if you put 0 amps for speakers.
It's getting... awesome to mess with this mess...

To be clear, I'm not doubting the Biketronics gear at ALL...It's a matter of getting the right signals out of the head unit for the 2180 to work with. I'll be seeing if i can get the tech at my dealership to do some trial and error with me when I'm there on Monday.
any updates on the flash?? i just installed my amp last night i am using a 4 channel amp, i have speaker lids installed and already had harley flash the radio once to turn the rear speakers on. what do i need to tell them in order for the best sound
I believe I have what is the best right now,, I've not messed with the gains at all on my adapters,, and have good volume and clarity,, bass could be a little better, but not heard my favorite song on it yet,, (Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon",, but really any Pink Floyd song,,
