Ok, so I have all my components, and am thinking through install, when something dawned on me...
How do I protect the speakers (Rockford Fosgate P165 & P1650) which are going into fairing and lower fairing pods dry? I ordered the VtwinAudio grills for both, but they will let water in.
What is everyone using that doesn't use marine grade speakers to keep them dry, and keep water from getting into the inner electronics in the fairing, or frying the voice coils on the actual speakers???
Both of those speakers have a rubber surround and some sort of cone (brain fart) that is water resistant. I know nothing about the stuff above, but I promise you I ran the He11 out of those two speakers for a lot of miles in every kind of rain you can think of and washed the bike and never had an issue. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

I was at a local car audio shop the other day and this subject came up. He (the shop owner) claims that all you have to do is spray the speaker itself with camp dry ( few coats with dry time in between). He also stated that is all that most speaker manufacturers do ( they just dip them in a tank full of the stuff).

I didn't buy anything from him.
Some speakers yes, but if the part is if it's in the lids is to keep water from going down the tweeter stalk and into the voice coil and ultimately the bag.
I've been thinking about trying this stuff. One of the sprays is silicon based and other is mineral spirits. I have the old stock speakers I was going to try it on someday.

That's great for "paper cone" speakers, however, most of the coaxial used now a days aren't. Also you would still get water down the tweeter stalk.
