Looking for advice for drop-in replacement speakers (top-mount like the OEM speakers) for a 2014 FLHXS. BT brackets are out of stock, C-V B52 amp arrived the other day, BT line leveler is en route, just looking for something that will be an easy drop-in install in the factory pods for now. Once I decide on long term speakers with the BT brackets I'll find a use for whatever I stick in the pods now. JL C2?, Focal _____?, Polk, Boston, Kicker, Infinity/JBL? I'm not terribly picky about these, just want something that's not outrageously priced and doesn't require modifying the pods. I've searched the forums and still haven't seen a definitive list of what fits without mods. Thanks!
The Hertz HCX 165 fit perfect. They are no longer made but you could maybe find a used set. Otherwise the Hertz Mille MPX 165 I believe drop in as well. The Polk MM651 are cheap right now as they are being fazed out as well. The Kappas fit on the inside, although I always thought they sounded better on the outside, but mounting on the outside is not recommended

If you are looking for a coax speaker to drop in the front pods the only speakers I have ran into that have any issues when mounting on the outside of the pods as the oem speakers are were the infinity kappas.
If you are looking for a component speaker that sounds good in the pods and on the Biketronics brackets is the DIGITAL DESIGN CC6.5. You will only have to mount the tweeter in either the stock grill or an aftermarket grill.
If you use the speaker suggested you will only have to buy them once.
