Not at all, I had mine done at Joe's Hog Doc in Granite City, IL. Honestly I just got on Technoresearch's website and got the list of dealers in my area and found Joe's information. I think anyone who has their software should be able to do it but you might need to help them along to make sure you receive the flash you want. I ended up watching JM's video to ensure mine was correct, we knew we had it right when my radio had no sound output (amp was wired to come on from high level.) I now have just a cheap LOC wired in.
