I am swapping head units same year, bikes, my current radio has the 0 amp 4 speaker flash, the head unit, I am swapping to, the individual I got it from, only ran 2 speakers, my question is do I need to have the unit I am swapping to, flashed, to run rear speakers, also, or is the flash, 0 amps 4, speaker stored in my ECM and not the head unit?

The replament head unit will need to be flashed if the rear channels are not activated.
An easy way to check is plug in the replacement HU I and see if the fader is highlighted and operational.
What is the reasons for changing out the headunit??
i was under the impression the flash is stored in the BCM or ECM, either way someone here said it wasn't in the radio its in the module, and any radio you plug in should have the flash your bike has. if this is true or not i don't know, but i know i read it here.

Yes, I heard two different answers from two different bike shops, thats why I asked on the forum. Ill know when I install it, either way
I just swapped my 4.3 for a GT 6.5 that I caught a deal with on ebay. I previously had my 4.3 flashed at an audio shop when I installed my Rockford Fosgate amp and speakers. I plugged the 6.5 in before fully installing it looks like the flash was retained within the ecm. I got no distortion like I did with my 4.3 pre-flash and the rear saddlebag speakers were still active.

The flash stays with the head unit. Depending on flash, the rear speaker/fade option is available. If the flash is 4speaker/0amp you'll have fade. I believe you get fade option with the RF flash, as well.
