One thing I found out when I put an 800.4 in my clutch side bag is it gets pretty hot. I'm sure in the fairing they will run cooler especially if you dial the gains down to get the lower power ratings. Looking at it from that angle those 800.4s might be a good idea in that you will not be stressing them one bit so hopefully they will last a long time.

That's sort of the approach I took when I bought mine. I didn't need that much power but I liked the small size. Unfortunately with the enclosed space I have it in it is competing with the old RF amp I had for heat generation

Kinda what I was thinking. I would put the extra power now and it may give me more wiggle room later if I decided to go with different speakers.Hopefully I’m good for a while, but I can see this kinda being expensive hobby always wanting a little more. I just have to remember to keep my fingers off of the gains. Lol

If it were me and not knowing how to tune the DSP right now, I would start around 250 watts and move up some, if I felt the need to do so, and after learning the DSP. Remember, the higher the power, the less bottom end along with the need to move the HPF up.

@250 where do you think would be a safe crossover point? I wish I had shops in my area that could help with the tuning. I’m willing to pay for a good tune, I just can’t find anyone near me. I’m about 2hrs away from the Biloxi Gulfport area, I may do some checking out around there.

While the DD RCA kits are awesome for making RCA cables whatever exact length you need and being able to make your own splitters, it is an expensive route to go.

Stinger does have short y cables you can use for considerably less money.

As far as custom length RCA cables go I often buy a good cable, measure the length I need, then cut the plugs off of one end. I then solder on a couple of new plugs. I've seen some of these plugs that claim to work without soldering and I just don't think I'd use one on something that vibrates like a Harley. The solder on plugs are pretty cheap and if installed correctly are reliable. I've had a few patch cables on my bike I made like that for years and haven't had a set fail yet. I will say that after I soldered the connectors on I coated the insides with silicone before screwing the cover on for moisture protection.

If you need help with tuning check out The Cycle Lab in Biloxi. Tell Brad I sent you.

I may do that. I would feel better about it and not constantly worry about blowing stuff up. Plus, I get to make a trip up to the coast for a much needed break. Thanks for info!
