Default Replace the amp or speakers

After some issues I'm starting to see with the DB651 not being able to handle the power of the SS amp even with gains set a little lower on the amp, I highly recommend you take a look at the Hertz, Titan II, or Focal speakers that are 4 ohm. IMO the preference would go to the Titan II mainly because they're made by HAT for Biketronics and BT provides a lifetime warranty on them.
I am in the same boat - just received SS PN4.520 and Polk DB401 and DB521 speakers. Waiting to install on used (new to us) 1996 Ultra, with BT1004 retro kit and Sony DSX-MS60 head unit. I went with the configuration based on reading countless threads and not personally well versed in all things audio.

Now reading here, my question is whether I should replace the speakers or the amp? I think I'm limited in the rear to 4" on the '96 (unless someone can advise that the speaker boxes can be modified to house larger speakers). Also wasn't planning to move up to 6.5" in the front (really not that much of an audiophile) but will if strongly recommended. If replacing the amp, what would you wise folks recommend as an alternative?

Just a bit confused on which way to go, but would like to get it settled soon. Bike is in for service over the next week, and would like to have components in hand when I get it back, prepping for our first ride!

Thanks in advance. You guys all rock!

Both sets of your speakers have a 4 ohm impedance. The guru ( UltraNutz) will have to take it from here.

You are good with 4 ohm speakers sir. After installation you'll follow the same procedure to set your gains.

Turn radio EQ. Bass, Treble to flat
Turn gains on amp all the way down (to the left)
Turn fader on radio all the way to front
Put in a good CD and turn radio up until you hear distortion then back it down a little.
Turn front gain up until you hear distortion then back it down a little.

Now move the fader to the rear speakers only and follow the same procedure.
